Reflection

Reflection
The Football could not have been better. At first people were slow to get on with the plan but then people started to come as they heard how much fun it was.Participation was higher than expected with 4 teams signed up and over 20 kids participating.  A double elimination bracket was set up and a series of 7 games were set up on the second Thursday. Some changes for next time would be to get the word out earlier so that players have time to get full teams together. We had originally made but they helped very little in getting the word out. The link below is video footage of yesterdays game.  https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=7d8e06b2b1&view=att&th=12dcac0aec7cee34&attid=0.1&disp=safe&zw

Project 2 proposal

Executive Summary
As a STEM school Aviation does not have a sports team or a PE class in which the students can participate in. That is one of the reasons why inter-murals were started last year. A step down from inter-Murals the football games that we are going to be holding every Thursday can and should be a good way for people to get their needed PE hours done. It is going to be held during school so that anyone who wants to play can, and it will be two-hand touch or flag depending on what is safer and what the students would want to participate in.

Need
Besides wanting a good number of students participating in the events, the event should also be a way for students to actually bond with one another and create a more family like atmosphere in our school. The event is open to all grades and will be held in clubs because the time would make it easier for people to make it to the field where the event will be held.

Objective

This Football tournament is going to be held in an attempt to open up intramurals to a larger group of students.  Because up until now all intramurals has done is soccer, basketball, and dodgeball.  By holding a football tournament we will be able to appeal to a wider array of students at AHS. There will be a booth at lunch set up to pass out rosters and ethic codes to those interested in participating in the Tournament, or seeking more information about the club and its activities.

Time Table
Thursday, January 6; Make posters to be used during lunch on the 6th at the booth.
Friday, January 7;  Have a table at Lunch ready to pass out information such as rosters, and ethics codes.
Tuesday, January 11;  Forms are due back to be considered for entry, and brackets are emailed out to team captains same night.
Thursday January 13; Tournament begins, and will continue to the next week.

Budget
There should not be any budget at all. The participant might need to bring their own socks or towels to represent flags. But other than that there shouldn’t be anything.

Conclusion
I think that the project will bring classmates together because they are competing in a sport that they all enjoy

Third help reflection

My third help project was helping Derrick Smith and Jorge Delgado hold a soccer tournament in the gym at school during lunch. What I did was help them make the Facebook notifacations giving people the information of the event and I also help them organize a roster and lineup. The reason why they did this project was because they knew that the school had a big population of people that would want to take part in a soccer tournament. And there was a nice big turn out for the event as well.

Project 1 Refelction

The event was held in MR. Wards room during lunch and clubs on Thursday. Instead of watching a movie the attendess voted for a couple of episodes from the show "The Office". Something i would want to change would be to not procrastinate and create posters to actually get the word out about the event.

Barriers

  1. A barrier that I am going to have to face is the number of students that are going to show up. There is no way that I can actually know for sure how many people will come. But a way in which I might be able to get around that barrier might be to make sure that the people are informed as much as possible that way I can eliminate or reduce the number of people that don't come based off of the fact that they just didn't know.

    1. Another barrier that I might have to face is the fact that I might get games that people don't enjoy. But I think that if I just get an abundance of games that there will be no way that someone will dislike every single one there.

      1. Another barrier there for me to face is going to be that people wont like the movie I choose. A way for me to get around that is have a list of movies that people would enjoy. Then the advisory before the event I will go to the junior and senior advisories and I will ask for them to vote on the one they would like best.

Second help project reflec.

For my second help project I helped Molly. Her project was a holiday gram project where friends bought each other a candy gram and then the day before we left to go on winter break we had to deliver them. So when someone bought someone else a candy gram they had to write down the seventh period of that person. So that last Thursday before we left molly had a pile of grams that people had bought each other. So what we had to do was separate the grams by seventh periods (there were a lot of grams so a number of students helped). Once that was done we had to tape a piece of candy onto every piece. After that was done I took the piles of grams to seventh periods and handed them out to the ones that belonged to the different students.

Update

As of right now i am preparing for the close coming date of my movie night.
At the same time i am coming up with the details of which sport competition i wanted to hold.
I helped Derrick and Jorge with their Basketball competition and Molly with her holiday grams project.
I am also looking for a third project in which i can help in.

First project proposal

My first project is going to be a junior and senior movie night. Think about how sad it is to be going to some of the same classes as someone and not know their name or what they like to do for fun. The reason as to why I took upon starting this project is because I want to be able to change some of this. In this case that means that people fell very uncomfortable in not only socializing with their class mates but also in the class. The student might have good grades but still fell uncertain about themselves when they raise their hands to share something or they just might not share at all.
Having attended our past school spirit assemblies I noticed that the freshman and sophomores have a higher percentage of the people participating in the cheers and the events than the juniors and seniors do. I think that the reason for this might be because of the fact that the juniors fell uncomfortable among each other and that is something that I think can be changed by my project. The time that they spend together and having fun can change all of that. My project is basically going to be a half hour of playing board games/ice breakers and then watching a movie and eating candy. I believe that if a person has the confidence to play with their classmates that they would be able to cheer and volunteer for events for the sake of their classmates.

The following steps are what I will be doing in order to accomplish the event:

  1. Find a date.
  2. Create poster/s to be able to spread the word.
  3. Pick a movie.
  4. Find games and food and drinks.
  5. Find a room.
  6. Find a supervising teacher.
  7. Create a way to obtain attending classmates feedback.
After the event is held I will have two different ways to obtain feedback. One is going to be making a handout that asks the attendees how they felt about the event itself. That is going to be a way for me to get exact feed back from exact students. Also I can make observation on how the junior and senior classes act on the next closest spirit assembly. For the type of project I am doing I can really set up a real time table because of the fact that there is only going to be one date. But for milestone date refer to the blog titled mile stone dates. The only money costing part of the project will be buying the food and drinks. For a while I thought of asking people to pay. But after basing the outcome off of the one last year I found the they food and drinks for the entire night would not cost more the 60 dollars. The movie and board games are all going to be coming from what is under my disposal.
Finally I believe that an event like this is exactly what some of the students might need. A chance to be able to get to know some of the seniors before they graduate might just be the thing that the juniors could use. Because of the fact that it can be a way for them to understand what it is actually like being a senior.

First Help reflec.

For my first help project I helped Derrick and Jorge to run a school wide basketball tournament. The main part in which I contributed in was getting together a junior class squad. Once I got them together Derrick, Jorge and I consulted on who would be the be opposing class for them to face. Once we decided on the senior class to be the opponent of the juniors we had to come up with entertainment for the games. So the night before I downloaded a bunch of pump up songs, plugged my Ipod into the schools speakers and then we were ready to go.
Derrick and Jorge were attempting to organize a school wide basketball tournament. The winning class was going to obtain spirit points. The reason why they did this was because even though our school did not give us any PE classes that we could get the school together sports wise. I learned how reluctant our school mates were t actually participate in any thing sports related.

My partner Abdul and I are currently looking for a teacher to be able to supervise our junior/senior get together. We have the date that we want to do it set up. One more thing that we need to get done also is make flyers and post them up around the school  so that students will be informed
