Milestone dates

For this project we did not really have any milestone dates because what we did was make one poster advertising the event that we wanted to hold. Then went and told the people who we knew actively played soccer and got them to be the team captains for the 4-5 teams that we wanted to be signed up for the competition. The good thing about that was it took out the part in where we had to go out and contact the people that wanted to participate in the activity if they wasnted they play they had to organize their time with their team captain. That way we did not have to go and postpone the event from its original due date.

Project 2 Blog 1

For my next project I propose to make a soccer tournament with my co-leader. We hope that there will be a lot of students that will show up because of the advantage that they are able to take. Because we are a school that does not offer PE in our curriculum. And because that is a state requirement we think that this is a good opportunity for many students. As a final project we envision it as there being multiple teams and that we split the two teams up according to goalposts. That way we are able to manage two games at one time. After that we will have a two game elimanation process going so that we can have the people who want to play play for the maximum amount of time.

Reflection

The basketball tournament did not go according to plan as I had thought it would. The posters that were put up to inform people to participate did not hook in as much people as I thought it would have. But to me I felt the objective that we were trying to meet was obtained. The goal that we wanted to make was that everyone who played would enjoy themselves and not regret switching out of their clubs to play for a day. We wanted everyone that came to actually have fun playing.

The original proposal called for everyone becoming a part of a team depending on the grade that they were in. But the day of the game we had 13 people show up. So we had two teams of five and then had three substitutes that came in when the two team captains wanted them to join the game. All in all I believe that this was a success because of the chance for everyone to get into the game and the fun atmosphere the game was set in. Neither of the teams had a a real intention on winning for destroying the other team it was just a friendly game.

Project 1 Proposal

For this project Driskell and I propose on doing a basketball tournament that will consist of each team being made up of the different classes. The tournament will go by a bracket system having the different teams play against each other and then the winner of each game will move on up the bracket. Basketball is a fun sport that puts an emphasis on the use of team work and that is a great way for the participants to make themselves more open with one another.

Executive Summary

Being a STEM school Aviation does not have the time nor the resources to offer it's students a way for them to fulfill their PE hours during school. When all students were interviewed they knew that they were going to have to find alternate ways to get their hours. The thing is though there are many students who procrastinate that till the end of high school careers. But they have more important things to take care of for instance senior projects and community service hours. There is no time for students to go out and obtain those hours. To attempt to make the situation a little more fair in the favor of the students their were different clubs in which were implemented to make that a little easier. Like Marathon Club and open gym club. But this project is an attempt to make it even easier for the students by giving them a chance to add on to those hours during school hours.

Need

This project is all going to be independent. It does not require money or any other type of assistance like that. The one thing that it needs is to have enough people show up and participate in it to make it a little more fun for those that wanted to come and play. The way that we can make sure that happens is to advertise it as much as possible so that the students are aware of when it is happening and how it can benefit them.

Objective

I think that there will be a reasonable amount of people that will want to come and join in on the fun. Not only do I see people that I know play basketball coming but I think that more will come as well. Because while advertising we will show how much they can benefit from just participating in one clubs day session.

Method

What I think will get the maximum amount of people to come will be making them come to a session where they learn how much fun they can have by playing basketball. Before I stared to play I thought that there was no point to it. Which is what I believe is the common reaction for most of the students here at Aviation high School.

Evaluation

I think that the best way to see if this project worked is by asking them how much fun they had and asking if they would participate if there was another event. Because the objective of this project is to get people like a sport so that they can make it easier on themselves to get PE hours.

Time Table

I planned out that the games themselves will be during lunch and clubs on Thursdays. Here is a list of the things that my partner and I hope to accomplish in order to get the tournament under way:
April 15: Create teams according on grade and if that does not work sort it by interest.
April 20 Go to the advisories of the chosen team captains and make sure that they know the date that we set up as the game-day.
May 1st Create a Facebook page that advertises the event that way people will be informed whether they want to watch or play.
May 5th Start off the competition!

Budget

This is a cost free project and it will not cost me nor the school any money.

Conclusion

This is a great project because of the fact that it is bringing sports to Aviation High School. It makes it easier for the students that participate to get volunteer hours and it helps them get to know one another better. The last reason why I think that this is a worth while project is that it helps get them hooked onto a magnificent sport so that maybe they could pursue it and make it on a team to knock out their PE hours!

Semester 2 Blog 1

 For my first independent project I am co-leading a basketball tournament with my classmate Driskell Jack. The main purpose for me to make this one of my lead projects is that i feel that if the teams are picked according to what class the students are in. What I hoped to have happen is the that there will be one team captain and that the chosen captain would pick his team according to both skills in the sport and who they don't know. This way they can grow more comfortable with students that they don't know. What I was hoping to have happen would be that the winning class could gain spirit points because of the fact that the roster was based off of class.
 The way that the tournament would work would be that we would have to games going on at the two different half courts. Going sideline to sideline. Like the NCAA the tournament would go by with a one game elimination process. But that depends on the number of teams that we can get to sign up for the event. If we don't get the number of students that we were hoping for then we would just have it as a two game elimination process.
 I envisioned for the tournament to last about two weeks after it begins. What I believe would interfere with the project from happening according to plan would be someone from one of the teams not being able to make it. That is why I wanted to appoint one team captain because of the fact that they could be my way of keeping in touch with the team. I will get the contact information of the team captain so that I can send them the details of when games are so that they can contact their team mates and make sure beforehand that there will be someone either taking a test or not coming to school that day.
